The Pit Stop Rescue is a breed specific rescue for a very misunderstood dog, American Pit Bull Terrier. Statistically, in a shelter, pit bulls & pit bull mixes are the number 1 breed seen coming through the shelter doors daily. Pit bulls are the majority breed that you will see stray and begging for help on the side of the road. The Pit Stop Rescue prides itself in trying to help as many of these dogs, DAILY, as we can.

Our adoption process begins with an application. Once your application has been received, we will contact your landlord, veterinarian & personal reference. If all checks out, we follow up with a home visit to where the dog will be living. The next step is the sleep over. A sleep over is when the dog you are intending to adopt spends 7 nights with you to make sure that everyone is the right fit for one another. We ask that you keep in touch those 7 days with updates & pictures. Once we are sure that everything will work out, you will be asked to sign a contract and an adoption fee of $150 will be collected. Please note, our adoption fee is not a sale price but a donation to help offset the medical expenses incurred in getting our dogs healthy and ready for adoption. Lastly, we will need to get a “Family Picture”. The family picture is a picture of your whole family with your newest addition. This picture is posted to our facebook page. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative & micro-chipped.
